‘Then came in all the king’s wise men; but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof…’
Daniel 5:8
And it is a rare thing the the king requireth, and there is none other that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with the flesh’
Daniel 2:11
The Book of Daniel in the Bible gives a deep insight to how God uses faithful men like Daniel, in two separate incidents, to make an impact on the most powerful men on Earth, then.
God showed Daniel not just the interpretation of the King’s dream, but the dream itself.
Christians believe that Jesus Christ will return and the world that we know today will end.
We are commanded by God to make ourselves ready, to be like Christ, by loving God and loving others, to enter the Kingdom of God.
In Noah’s time, the world had become very evil. Cross marriages between offsprings of Adam and fallen angels have totally corrupted the world.
Noah and his family were the rare exception. With the impending demise of the world, God commanded Noah to make an Ark. To build a boat in the middle of solid ground does place Noah in the company of lunatics. He was obedient and the rest of human race was history, except for him and family.
With the cruxificion of Jesus Christ and his subsequent resurrection and return to God’s Kingdom, faithful men of Christ has been diligently sharing the good news of our salvation and the second return of Jesus Christ.
‘When He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His Saints…’
1 Thessalonians 1:10
It has since been more than 2000 years, and though the world did looked like it will end a couple of times, more recently during the Bay of Pigs debacle in Cuba in the 1960s,, when fears that President John F Kennedy, would pull the nuclear trigger on an equally well armed nuclear power, the then USSR or Soviet Union, the world hasn’t ended yet.
Today, if you do have time, do pay attention to oft reported media comments on the powers to be in Iran, who have a deep conviction that a return(not of Jesus, but someone else of their own belief) will come when the world enters a conflagration. Speak is something, when you have nuclear weapons to obliterate the world a few times over and they are on the way to attaining that ability.
Leaving the arena of politics, which is beyond my finite ability, the world did end many times, at least in the personal lives of many.
If today, you were diagnosed with an incurable illness, or suffer a tremendous financial setback or for some, a rejection by someone whom you have amorous feelings for, or silly as it may, a pimple strategically placed on the nose for the narcisstic, is enough to constitute a collapse of their world.
The Bible talks about one who dies, as resting till the day Jesus Christ returns.
Those who are true believers and followers of Christ will arise and be brought into the Kingdom of God. The chaffs or unbelievers will be with the devil in eternal condemnation.
‘Then said the Lord, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured neither madest it grow;
….and should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons …..’
Jonah 4:10
Sadly, Christians, me inclusive(in my days of weakness) can be pretty obnoxious and self-righteous. In reminding the non-believers or even non-following believers of what the end means, we in judging, just like Jonah, probably did more damage in moving people away from God’s love.
Jonah was asked to remind the evil and cruel people of Nineveh of God’s love and forgiveness, before it was too late. He was a reluctant messenger and only responded when God brought him back.
He was angry when the people of Nineveh did repent.
Aren’t we often like that??
‘But the Word of God grew and multiplied….’
Acts 12:24
God wants all to be saved, for salvation is offered to all. But God will not forced upon you, you have to be willing yourself.
‘For I say to you that none of these men who were invited shall taste My supper’
Luke 14:24
Some Christians are used by God mightily, just like Daniel, where non-believers were converted, when their inner thoughts are revealed, by God using modern day Daniels.
Yet, often, as people who are saved, we will help lead the unsaved to God’s kingdom, by the way we lived.
“To know the way and to live the way, ie the truth of God’s Words is quite different”
It is not just speaking the Word, but imparting the life of the Word. What transformed me is what we are able to pass on to others.
The floods might seem far away, but the fire is near. For God will destroy the world not by flood but by fire.
‘..Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life’
Genesis 9:15
‘..in flaming fire taking vengeance on them who don’t know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ’
2 Thessalonians 1:8
The Ark of Noah we are all asked to build today is the Christlike life that we live, for that is what will be the defining difference when Christ returns.
There will be no life-buoys for our loved ones. Each has to build his/her own boat.
God Blesses
