....come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour'
Jeremiah 12:9
It is said that once stripped of the accoutrements of civilization, the beast inside each and everyone of us will be brought to the fore.
'As a roaring lion, or a ranging bear is a wicked ruler over the poor people'
Proverbs 28:15
History is replete with examples of the intense evil man is capable of be it; gas chambers of Nazi Germany, the Great Indian Partition(in the 1940s, leading to today's nuclear standoff between Pakistan and India)), overflowing blood shed in the Balkans in time past, the destruction of scholastic society in Qin Shi Huang's China.
But these are modern times, many will beg to differ, but witness the ethnic cleansing in Rwanda, the old rump Yugoslavia and the ongoing Dafour massacres in Sudan, indeed evil in its raw form is still very alive in our modern society.
What about in conditions of normality, where the ordered structure of society is not destroyed and the beast is not unleashed by some extemporaneous factors like an earthquake, a hurricane or the entrancing charm of a master deceiver like Hitler or Stalin.
Ever felt like the denizens of the jungle, as the new day starts, when food on the table is not assured, and in fact, you could end up as the main menu for some other predators, and dessert for the scavengers of our urban society.
'For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together'
Matthew 24:28
'....who then can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible"
Mark 10:26-27
Everyday is a new day and the Grace of God is suffice. Many are familiar with this verse, yet how many of us truly start the day, at peace, thankful and believing that God will walk with us, through this sinful world.
'To whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more'
Luke 12:48
Having an overabundance should be a good problem. Yes, we indeed are blessed in many ways, it is just that we tend to look at the world through our sin-tainted eyes.
Rather than be contented and ask God, "what is Your will for me today." We rather asked, "will You give me what I will??"
'...and the whole world lieth in wickedness'
1 John 5:19
The beasts of the jungle often engaged in short but intense conflicts. However, once they are sated, like the pride of lions slumping drowsily in the vast African savannah, or the Hippopotamus, who take great joy in wallowing contentedly in the muddy river, nothing happens till their stomach calls.
But men is different. We tend to look beyond the day and are rarely satisfied with our basic or even diverse needs.
'When the people complained, it displeased the Lord'
Numbers 11:1
Men are made in the likeness of God. The first man, Adam messed it up. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, by His dying on the cross, has brought us back into the intended relationship that God had planned for us.
'For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive'
1 Corinthians 15:22
'...Who hath called you out of the darkness into His marvellous light'
1 Peter 2:9
Everyday, we are commanded to worship and praise God. Our sole purpose in life is to minister to the Lord, as a living sacrifice.
'...by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service'
Romans 12:1
'....We trust in the Lord our God...'
2 Kings 18:22
This runs against our instinct of survival and self gratification.
Will the Lord provide?? Are His provisions sufficient??
'I will praise the name of God with a song; and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
This also shall please the Lord better than an ox Or bullock that hath horns and hoofs
Psalm 69:31
Everyday, most of us look every which way as the world beckons.
It is time we look to God, for while we have always been in the end times, it just that the tempo and intensity seemed to have increased.
End times started from the point Jesus Christ returned to God, after His resurrection. End times will conclude when Christ returns a second time.
Like the classic, 'Call of the Wild' written by Jack London. The story talks about a well bred domesticated dog that by circumstances, became the leader of a wolf pack. With men, be it the modern men or men of old, are we really domesticated wolves?? Yet, beneath the dross of humanity, is that Christlikeness that God wants to surface in us all.
'The wolf and the lamb shall feed together. And the lion shall eat straw like the bullock....'
Isaiah 65:25
We must be willing, while we still have the right to exercise that will
God Blesses
