#24 Dancing with God(25jan2005)

'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are
the sons of God'
Romans 8:14

One of my favourite evergreen HK actress, Nancy Sit has
regained her fame in recent years. Ever effervescence
and bubbly, some of us of the better aged variety
might recall two little known facts about her in the
1960s

- then she had the ideal 'summer' physique compared
to the present fully blessed coat of 'winter'protection around her today

- she was a great a-go-go dance princess

God by His grace, truly lifted the blindness in my
heart four wonderful years back.

It has indeed been a fruitful time of experiencing
God's grace and love despite the many storms in our lives.

Yet, often there are days when I felt like an inept a-go-go
dancer.

For the unitiated, the dance involves you and your
partner, shaking your limbs(and whatever is still
attached to you) in vigorous north-southerly
directional motions.

This might not be the most visually accurate description
but hopefully, it gives all a sense of wonder of how
miraculous it will indeed be for the two partners to co-ordinate their movements at all.

I wish that my walk with God is more waltz-like and
not the present gyrative dance form just described
above.

In fact, God never intended us to go 'gah gah' and 'go
go' in our relationship with Him.

God wants us to let go and let Him lead

God leads, I respond, God draws near to me, I receive
peace and joy on earth, and everlasting life in
Heaven.

Where were the mis-steps???

- God says look to Him and not earthly things(Luke
9:23), but God, I am an earthling!!

- God says flee from idolatory(1 Corinthians 10:14)
but God, they will call me an idiot if I ignore the
lustful things of the world!!

- God says, be still(Mark 7:6) but God I am still
waiting for all my unanswered desires that I emailed
to you in Heaven!!

- God says, 'why aren't you listening(Mark 8:12)but
God if you aren't listening, should I listen to You!!

To keep in step with God, to move around gracefully, thankfully, it is not what we can or do, but what God has already provided and will provide

'My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is
make perfect in weakness'
2 Corinthians 12:9

'For with God nothing shall be impossible'
Luke 1:37

'For it is God which worketh in you both to will and
to do of His good pleasure'
Philippians 2;13

So what do we have to do??
- for those who have not taken the first step, you
have to start the dance with God by repenting and
believing in Him and in our salvation through Jesus
Christ.

- for those who have believed but have forgotten about why they first
believed. Look to God and away from the world

- for those who believed and still do, continue to
anchor yourself on God's Words, stay on-line with God
in prayers, experience God's love by doing His will in
loving Him and your neighbours. Submit to God.

To dance well, to keep in step with God,
- you must have a passion to want to seek God
- To have that passion, you must show compassion from God's perspective and not ours.

Do pray about it and respond as God will surely lead, if
your heart so desires to be led.

'Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts
shall be established'
Proverbs 16:3

An afterthought

In my sharing the Word of God these past few years, God has taught me an important truism.

That is,to be able to speak from the heart, to speak with empathy with the people that God places in my path, God will put me through experiences, often daunting but never overwhelming, that will allow me to live what I share.

Taking up the cross is painful and only truly in leaning on Jesus Christ will the burden be light.

Today, my father is in the midst of a major operation on a recurrent colon cancer problem. 9 years ago, he survived what was at best an even chance of not making Our Maker. God gave him a reprieve. He found the Lord since and was just baptized 2 months back.

Often, it is not that we cannot ‘see’ God, it is not that it is impossible to keep in step with God. Often while our lips speak ‘God speak, our hearts are everywhere except with God.

Momentous ‘shake-ups’ like these while never desired from our selfish, limited human understanding, do often help to bring us back into perspective and focus on God.
For that, I thank God for His grace.

God Blesses
