Limping foot, punctured tyre, where is the connection?
Another family story, except with two new characters, but with God always as the central focus.
Yesterday, as I was parking my car(near ACS Junior), a very kind man told me that the back tyre of my car was deflated. Thankfully, I managed to move the car to a nearby petrol station for temporary resuscitation before driving the reflated car a bit furthur down to my regular tyre shop.
There was a piece of metal shard, cutting deep into the outer tyre, but thankfully, it had not had the opportunity to pierce the inner tube, which would have had serious consequences.
So what has it got to do with my wife??
Some of you might know that I am not just blessed with a loving wife, but the marital package included being chauffeured.
This privilege was put in abeyance, when my wife injured her same left foot twice over, once by attempting a Samson, when she tried to kick down the door frame of the house.
2nd attempt, when the much abused leg decided to trip over in the only form of protestation available when ‘a shopping manic’ temporarily took over the mind of the lady of the house.
God do allow ‘miseries’ to come to our lives. He has His reasons. It is always for our good.
‘The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart, devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil’
Psalm 57:1
On reflection, if not for her little mishap, my wife will be driving the car, running the kids to the various locations, including right to the nite(for the extramural programmes).
It is likely that we will all be blissfully unaware of the dangers of the ubiquitous metal piece, tearing away at the heart of the tyre.
I am thankful that
- while her pain was real, we placed her woes and pain to the Lord in prayers
- I responded to the Holy Spirits prompting to meet up with Peter at ACS Junior to discuss God’s will for the prayer group
Walk closely with Jesus. Abide in the vine. It pleases God when we seek Him with all our heart. It is also His desire to shield us from the ‘arrows’ of the evil one.
‘I remember the days of old; I meditate on all your works, I muse on the work of Your hands’
Psalm 143:5
