#43 Loose pebbles(16may2005)

'The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of

men. To see if there are any who understand, who seek

God. They have all turned aside....'

Psalm 14:2-3

My life the last few days seem to revolve loosely

round the word 'loosÈ.'

At the beginning of the week, my stomach seems pretty

ready to loose its contents ever so often.

The next day, all four corners of my often neglected

teeth started to loose its usual firmness and I count

myself as one of the statistic highlighted in

the Straits Times on high proportion of adult

Singaporeans with gum problems.

Day after, I went for my usual muscle loosening swim

and came back loosing the security access card to my

apartment.

To compound matters, I lost my almost antique'

denture(one more trade secret revealed)

And of couse 'bad'things come together, I lost a

couple of decent size clients for the wrong reasons on

Friday, and if not for fear of the Lord, would have

let loose my temper on the parties involved for this

sense of aggrievement.

And to tie all loose ends, if there is no

pyrotechnics, we will hardly pay attention.

The socket upon which my wife was using to dry blow my daughter's hair caught fire. Fortunately, it stopped at the socket.

'Hear the word of the Lord, ye children....

For the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants

of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land'

Hosea 4:1

If you are not lost with my verbatim, I guess I was,

these past one week.

I was walking with God, but seeing yet not hearing.

God is faithful, God loves us and will always not just

bring us back into focus, but guard our very next

steps.

Just like pebbles in our pockets, they jingle, we

often hear them but ignore them.

God was using the events to 'speak to me' about

something very important except I was too distracted

to hear Him.

The Lord is graceful. If the pebbles doesn't work, He

will still be able to get our attention.

The Lord got my attention on Saturday night and truly

by His grace, we have been now rightly focussed

as to what could be if we do not pay attention to

these little warning jingles in our lives.

'Now the Spirit(of God) speaketh expressly, that in

the latter times some shall depart from the faith,

giving heed to seducing spirits(ie evil), and

doctrines of devils'

1 Timothy 4:1

Evil is ever present in this world. All of us know and

can see that irregardless of your beliefs.

Thank God, there is truly a Divine and faithful God

who loves us.

If there is no God, we and our loved ones will all be

left alone to face the darkness of this world.

It has been a painful Sunday.

But God do allow pain for our greater good.

What about you?? Do pay attention to the jingling of

the pebbles in your life.

Do not wait till the boulder come crashing down to

crush your soul.

God Blesses

Eng Hieang
