....but thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites,......as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee..'
that they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the Lord your God'
Deuteronomy 20:17-18
Like his predecessors from the time of Moses, King Solomon, the wisest man in the world, relied on his own understanding and chose to disobey God.
For the 'sake' of peace, he intermarried with women from the non-godly nations surrounding Israel and became enamoured with the sinful practices of his harem, to his and Isreal's peril.
The communists of the not too distant past, at least in Mao Tse Tung's days were strictly atheists. They believe less in a Divine being, spend a lot of time re-indoctrinating the spiritually misguided, and hold faith in Mao the man who provided their salvation from the corrupt elite and despicable bourgeoise.
Dressed in their uniformly dull grey Mao jackets, many Chinese of the old commune days, spent long tedious hours in corporate self-reexamination sessions, to ensure that everyone's thoughts are rightly Maoists.
Today, many believers of Christ read and quote from the Bible. For the Word is God, and God is the Word.
Yet, the mouth might utter the Words of Grace, but the self rightoues heart is still far from the will of God.
Are we truly yielding to God or are we using God to make others yield to our thoughts and standards??
Can we be 'godly', without God??
God Blesses
