I am Praying in the rain
- Diarrhoea to constipation
1 Tonight is one of those rare occasions when the rains just keep prodding along.
Would be nice to just stay snug in bed.
Unfortunately, for me, the umpteen times(last count 10) spent making trips to the toilet to purge negate that comfortable possibility.
Andre did the same except that he has nothing to show for it.
2 It is often in times of affliction that we tend to draw more on and acknowledge God’s grace.
Seems to be the case for me.
Holidays are nice, blessings are great, but often, our sinful nature caused us to drift away from our close relationship with God, as we luxuriate in the ambiance of good times and the temptations of the world.
‘For we do not have a High priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin’
Hebrews 4:15
3 For the mature Christian, that’s often our mistaken belief that since we know God well, spending cursory time instead of a close daily walk suffices
‘Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the Lord;
I shall not slip.’
Psalm 26:1
4 Sins creep up on us silently. We often get distracted from our close focus on God
Without the discipline of my daily quiet time, without the presence of my fellow small group members both in Wesley, ACS and Merrill, with the attractions of things of the world, I found myself slipping away to being of the world.
‘Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord…..’
Proverbs 8:34-35
5 As I thank God for His revelation in my life,
‘We give thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light…’
Colossians 1:12
6 I thank Him too for letting me be afflicted, for only in my points of despair that I remember His love for us and our sinful nature
‘This is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the law of the Lord’
Isaiah 30:9
7 And I also give thanks to God for His grace and faithfulness, when we truly repent, despite our sinful nature that often saddens Him.
I have sinned in my own way the last two weeks. God brought me back into focus. Do repent and respond in obedience.
‘If anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you must also do’
Colossians 3:13
Do pray for me and Andre and the family.
Our stomach conditions are both stabilizing, just as our walk with God is renewed to its closer level.
