#18a The present God(27n0v2004)

Or if I send a plague into that land and pour our my wrath upon it through bloodshed, killing its men and their animals, as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord,..'
Ezekiel 14:19

Plagues are not new.
In Medieval times, the bubonic plague cut a swathe across the landscape of Europe.
In modern times, bird flu and SARs are just a continuation of the 'grapes of wrath' of nature warped, by the sins of men.

In the news recently, a senior official from WHO(world health organization) was quoted as saying the world is on the verge of a global pandemic, where the bird flu virus could kill billions(possible 1 out of every 4 person).
Today, the local press highlighted the warning that Singapore and possibly the world could be sitting on a AIDs timebomb, as men seek to satisfy their sinful lusts.

Familiarity breeds contempt. The heart is hardened for most will never react till we are directly engulfed and enveloped in a personal tragedy of unbearable proportions.

Regression leads to depression. A mortally strickened sinner at the troughs of desperation might just ask a believer

'who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all diseases?'
Psalm 103:3

God does, for God is a God of love

'Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed, save me, and I shall be saved; for thou art my praise'
Jeremiah 17:14

Yet, many are not healed, why???

'Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of the Lord? Let it come now'
Jeremiah 17:15

Do you have faith like the woman of Canaan, whom Jesus praised

'O woman, great is thy faith, be it unto thee even as thou wilt'
Mathew 15:28

Is your faith like Jeremiah, who is willing to follow God wherever He leads

'As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee.......'
Jeremiah 17:16

'...without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him..'
Hebrews 11:6

Man is a multi-faceted creature of bad habits
- in good times, we seek all other gods except our Divine Father. Our excuse,

'No one has seen God at any time'
John 1:18

- in bad times, except for a cursory glance,we continue to seek all other gods except our Maker

- in impossible times, with us flat on our backs and our backs literally against the wall, we expect the Awesome God to prove His capabilities to us.

'Lord, in trouble they have visited You. They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them'
Isaiah 26:16

- in no time, if our situation improves, we forget about the Almighty God.

'They forget God their Saviour whose had done great things in Eygpt'
Psalm 106:21

If our situation worsens, we forget about the God who does not satisfies our sinful needs, but revert back to our 'ideal gods'

Be still, God commands and

'wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart, wait, I say on the Lord'
Psalm 27:14

Believe

'Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved and thy house'
Acts 16:30-31

Trust

'Blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee'
Psalm 84:12

Obey

'Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I Have commanded you and lo I am with you always, even unto to the end of the world. Amen'
Mathew 28:20

'Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee'

God is not a God of chance.
He will heal you if you so desire to be healed, if you ask in His will.
To know God's will, you will have to respond willingly as He leads.

'For if ye turn again unto the Lord, your brethren and your children will find compassion...
For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away His face from you, if ye return unto Him'
2 Chronicles 30:9

You must want to seek God, with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, acknowledge Him in all your ways and the Lord will make your paths straight.

'And the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah and healed the people'
2 Chronicles 30:20

God promises all who believe salvation and eternal life in His kingdom.
God never promise men eternal life in this sinful world.
Peace and joy of heart is what God will give us, to heal our hearts while we live in this temporal sinful world

'You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in You'
Isaiah 26:3

God blesses
