'Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids'
Proverbs 6:4
If my memory do not fail me, it was Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan who seemed to suffer from this wonderful disease, called 'imsomnia' and found love through their dabblings on the internet, via email.
This is a rare Saturday edition, but it is not the very hot weather that is giving me a headache, but rather matters of the heart that troubles me.
It is not because of the inevitable fallout from the recent past greed led, subversive ethics of the gnomes of the financial industry, that is now translating into the rollicking and rolling shades of fear, as the defaulting US housing mortgage market threatens to spread into a broader contagion.
It is not because even nature is starting to protest against the years of abuse by men, what with rare tremors jolting Jakarta, unprecedented floods in the lovely countryside of England, and a real hurricane(instead of the usual financial hurricanes) hitting main street Wall street.
'...Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us?
Judges 6:13
So, what can unfaze me??
'...if now I have found favour in Thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me'
Judges 6:17
Like Gideon, there are many of us who profess to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, but are always on the lookout for signs and miracles, before we will believe. On a more mundane ground, many of us are looking for inspiration, for gratification and for our prayers asked in our will to be answered, and not in God's will.
Ever since the Lord places in my heart, this desire and call to share my personal journey with Him. I have always assiduosly try to shine the light on myself, warts and all rather than attempt to impose my thoughts on those who are kind enough to journey with me. If there were any lessons to be taught, it was never meant to be doctrinal(for I am far from equipped to do that), but rather, may my mistakes and imperfections be an encouragement to all who God places in my path, that truly the perfect God loves us all.
'Thus saith the Lord God to the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?'
Ezekiel 34:2
The Lord has reminded us many times that in end times, false prophets and false doctrines will manifest themselves even more virulently.
Many who are supposedly strong in their faith will also be misled.
'...sirs, what must I do to be saved? They replied, 'believe in he Lord Jesus, and you will be saved...you and your household'
Acts 16:30-31
Many want to be saved. But how safe are they? Are the sheep led correctly by the right shepherds. Are the right shepherds doing right in the eyes of the Lord our God?
'...the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much'
James 5:16
Much as my concerns are real and justifiable. Much as I make this rare admonishment of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I am reminded by God that truly, I have to make myself righteous in His eyes. It will not be upon my own effort or ability, but rather, a desire that is translated into a life that truly want to look to Him, a life that seek to honour Him in every moment and situation He places us in, so that in drawing near to Him, He draws near to us and
'that He may incline our hearts unto Him, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, and His statutes, and His judgments which He commanded our fathers..'
1 Kings 8:58
As I closed this latest chapter of my journey, lets remind ourselves that it is God whom we look to and not men. That we go to God with no expectations, except with the knowledge that He loves us all, and we respond by doing His will.
And much as I believe that God uses me( as He uses all of us in different ways) to be that small light that encourages all of you whom He places in my life, as we journey through the darkness of this sinful world together, let me not assume but instead ask once again that if you feel(as the Lord leads) that it is time to part company with me as a journeyman, do let me know and I will take you out of this email list
Regards and God Blesses
