'...he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I speak, they did not hear...'
Isaiah 66:3-4
Now that Martin Scorsese, has finally won the Oscar awards after 6 attempts, it might be good to revisit a previous Oscar award winning film way back in 1951, titled
"A street car named desire" which was based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tennessee Williams.
William who? The contemporary shennigans of today might query, but I am quite sure that most would have heard of the late Marlon Brando, the brooding actor who at his prime, left many a damsel swooning in desire but at the tail-end of his life, only a bloodhound will empathize with his physical make.
'And they shall be My people, and I will be their God'
Jeremiah 32:38
Desire for things of the world is temporal. For either something better comes along, or the object of our interests will wane with time.
Worldly desires is also that sure road for a life of aspiration, that causes one to break out in perspiration, as our hearts conspire to attain our sinful desires, and we often find ourselves mired in the fearful web of deceit, avarice and insecurity of our own making.
For a piece of the devil's real estate, we will have to give up our sense of peace and joy on earth and our soul for eternity
With God, that desire to seek Him, to know Him, to obey His will, will only get deeper and better, as we transfix our hearts on Him.
An indescribable peace and joy, a life of eternity with the Father in Heaven.
'For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath ordained that we should walk in them..'
Ephesians 2:10
'..I however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly............................
And Moses sware on tha that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God'
Joshua 14:7-9
Martin Scorsese, at age 64, finally achieved his lifetime dreams. Interestingly, the film that won it for him was aptly titled "The Departed"
'And He said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not..'
Isaiah 6:9
Many a soul have departed this world without ever achieving their ambitions. Thankfully, some do know God. Yet, sadly, there are many who either had no desire at all to know Him, or had too many sinful desires for them to want to seek otherwise. Even for those who desire to seek God, we are reminded by Him to be always cognizant of the lure of the sinful world.
'Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation........'
Matthew 26:41
The day will come when we will have to meet our Maker. Even for those who choose to believe otherwise, the truth or fallacy of their assumptions will finally be brought to light.
How desirous one is of that inevitable meeting or realization of the validity of one's beliefs is to a large extent dependent upon how prepared you are.
',,,,prepare to meet thy God, O Israel'
Amos 4:12
God Blesses
