#112 Too much of a good thing (18 oct 06)

...Lord , thy God......give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildestst not, and houses full of good things, which thou fillesdst not.......
than beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Deuteronomy 6:10-12

For those who do know or believe in the existence of our Sovereign God, the above verse can be consigned to the backburners for now. But as many past Christians in name, but pagans in heart, like myself will attest, our God is a loving Father and He will not let us enter Hades blindly.

'Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve Him, and shalt swear by His name. ye shall not go after other gods......
....lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth...'
Deuteronomy 6:13-15

God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and always. But man can be a multi-faceted chameleon. Worst, we might not even know that we today, have moved away from God, in the midst of basking in the manifold blessings He has given us or possibly baking in the many troubles, often self inflicted, that we are in.

Whatever station in life we are in, the line to God is a straight and narrow path. Problem is, many of us instead of staying on the train, often moved our focus away from God, and are lured by the many sinful pitstops of life, disembarked too early and allowed ourselves to be ensnared by the devi's wiles.

The haze, after a brief respite, in now back with a vengeance(in the unhealthy range). Haze is obviously a bad thing, be it too much or too little. All of us know that.
Yet, what about the less transparent but equally insidious worldly desires that blinds us all to the danger that lies within, our sinful and deceitful self.

Deprivation can be a good antidote to depravation.

'Our light affliction, which is but for a moment is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory'
2 Corinthians 4:17

God Blesses
