#77 Valentine Day's special(14feb2006)

This is the time of the year, where for the more

practical lesser halves (or in reality, bankrupt of

new ideas) like me, it is a rather trying period.

Some, despite years of marriage, has a very laudable

depth of ideas to sustain the mass media's notion of a

romantic relationship.

Not too sure that Valentine's Day originated from him,

but the great silent movie king, Rudolph Valentino was

the face of the romantic male.

What is love??

The Macmillan English Dictionary define love as "to be

very strongly attracted to someone in an emotional and

sexual way"

Are chocolates the goo that keeps our love sticky??

And the intoxicating scent of flowers so overpowering

that love overcomes all. Diamonds are a girl's best

friend, and its shine does momentarily blind the

searing financial pain in the men's giving.

If love is about physical attraction, then unlike

wine, it should get worse with age.

Emotions are nice, if only we could bottle up only the

nice feelings. Like the proverbial rain clouds, we do

get thunderstorms and lightnings, and if material

gifts can do the job, then divorce and alimony would

be consigned to the province of fairy tales.

Love in the Bible, in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 is

described as follows

'Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy;

love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does

not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not

provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in

iniquity, but rejoices in the truth, bears all things,

believes all things, hopes all things, endures all

things. Love never fails...'

Long as it might be in its description of what love

truly means, love is God, God is love.

Love is not reserved for special occasions, but is

part and parcel of our daily lives and walk with God.

The family is that unit that God places in the human

lives, to enable us to experience with some parallel,

His relationship with us.

As we strive to obey God by loving Him and our

neighbours as much as ourselves, we will begin to

experience and encounter God in our daily lives.

Love never fails, for God never failed us.

Sadly, for most, only when all else fails, would they

even consider acknowledging the love of God.

God Blesses
