If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me’
Luke 9:23
With the end of the festivities, surely many will dread the need to sober up and face with some degree of trepidation, the beginnings of a new work year and all its concomitant challenges.
‘..Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’
Romans 10:13
As a believer, at the start of the year, I used to pass God a list of worldly things I liked to see Him help me achieve.
I used to take comfort knowing that many do the same if not more. For some do hedge their bets by seeking other ‘gods’ and soothsayers as well.
‘For I say unto you..........ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven’
Matthew 5:20
Heaven or hell is probably the last thing on the mind of most at the dawn of the New Year.
Paradise on earth is surely of greater priority as we dragged our body and soul to do battle with the challenges and desires of the world.
‘If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth’
1 John 1:6
As a follower of Jesus Christ, I still do but thankfully on fewer and fewer occasions, experience this sombre cloud, enveloping my emotions. Fear creeps in and worries want to become my constant companion.
‘That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ’
1 John 1:3
God will not forsake us. We walk alone only because we choose to.
For God is faithful even when we are not.
What makes a believer and follower of Christ sure of his faith??
It is his or her dynamic experience with God in their journey through life.
‘What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols’
Habakkuk 2:18
Man loves to talk to their own creations rather than their Creator. With the creatures of our innate desires or fears, we stand on the firm ground of our selfish needs.
With God, every day is a new day and His grace is suffice for the day.
‘For ye dissembled in your hearts when ye sent me unto the Lord your God, saying, Pray for us unto the Lord our God; and according unto all that the Lord our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it’
Jeremiah 42:20
‘.....but ye have not obeyed the voice of the Lord your God..’
Jeremiah 42:21
As an imperfect man, one often succumbs to the wiles of Satan’s secular world.
Without God, truly hell is not a distant option but a present reality on earth.
In church yesterday, God once again reminded me of His omnipresence.
The bible is a very thick word filled book. Like many followers of Christ, it has never failed to amaze me how God can bring one to precisely the right verse at the right time.
A Word from Him that addresses the issues in our heart and a balm to our needs of the moment.
Is this all a figment of one’s imagination??
Many of us start the year hankering after and trusting those who churn out their predictions and forecast for the year. If man can so foolishly trust the imperfect mortal man to speak what we want to hear, is not it time that you take that step into the presence of the Lord and experience the love and comfort of our God who encompasses all??
God Blesses
