#7 Who am I ??(28aug2004)

WHO AM I???

‘I(ie Jesus Christ) and my Father are one’
John 10:30

God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Ghost are the Holy Trinity and are One.

What about you and I??

1. We are all the temple of God

‘And you are Christ’s and Christ is God’s
1 Corinthians 3:23

‘Yes my soul and my body’
Psalm 31:9

‘Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?’
1 Corinthians 3:16

‘….for you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, I will dwell in them and walk in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.’
2 Corinthians 6:16

2. As the temple of God, God wants us to stay undefiled

‘…..to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man.’
Ephesians 3:16-17

‘….to keep you from folly and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.’
Jude 20:24

3. To prepare us as brides to receive the bridegroom Jesus Christ on his return

‘For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.’
2 Corinthians 5:10

‘…let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear; for our God is a consuming fire.’
Hebrews 12:28

4. For our soul will leave our earthly body to join Christ and God in the heavenly body

‘For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not make with hand, eternal in the heavens.’
2 Corinthians 5:1

‘But now they have a better country that is heavenly, wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God for He hath prepared for them a city.’
Hebrews 11:16

5. Rather than ask ‘who am I?’ You should ask yourself ‘what am I?’ when Christ returns

‘….believe on him, may have everlasting life and I will raise him up at the last day.’
John 6:40

6. Am I like it?(ie the devil) or am I like He?(Jesus Christ)

‘….put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.’
Ephesians 6:11

7.. For us to be like Christ, we must let go and let God transform us

For God says

‘I am Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, say the Lord..’
Revelation 1:8

While we, me

‘…..I am like a broken vessel’
Psalm 31:12

‘O love the Lord……
For the Lord preserve the faithful….
All ye that hope in the Lord’
Psalms 31:23-24

‘……become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.’
Romans 6:22

‘for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.’
Philippians 2:13

8. To let go means

To seek God with all your heart and soul always

‘Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden and you will find rest for your souls’
Mathew 11:28

To respond to God’s calling

‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and My burden is light.’
Mathew 11:29

9. In letting go,

‘ May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit’
Romans 15:13

10. No matter who, what, where we are, we must learn to respond with the words of Moses when God called him

‘Here I am’Lord
Exodus 3:4

A Health Warning
……. For believers who look for joy and peace other than through God

“Nirvana is that sense of completion that we find at the end of our search.
Utopia is men’s concept of idealism”
Quote from a famous Japanese Zen based architect

Yet, with God, it is not the end that matters nor that which gives us peace and joy, but rather, it is the inexpressible joy of intimately walking with and knowing a loving God on a daily basis that gives us the peace, where the it matters not tomorrow, for the Grace of God suffices for the day.

- many have seek peace by attempting to de-link themselves from the world.

An emptying of their ‘shell’

This runs contrary to the will of God

The Word of God says

‘You may be filled to the measure of the fullness of God’
Ephesians 3:17-19

‘..the Holy Spirit helps in our weakness’
Romans 8:26

‘And take not the Holy Spirit from me…’
Psalm 51:10-12

In the parable told in Mathew 12:43-45 about the person who cleaned his house of one evil spirit, several more came back in when the house was cleaned.

Only in submitting to God, and resisting the devil, will the devil flee from us.

- Some practice many alternate remedies/philosophies that seeks to bring one closer to worshipping nature

Man are made to have a relationship with God.

The Word of God says

‘Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator…’
Romans 1:25

- many de-stressed remedies eg yoga are not just physical but has a strong underlying spiritual element behind it

The Word of God says

‘keep yourselves from idols..’
1 John 5:21

‘that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God’
Daniel 3:28

- many think that they can differentiate and can stop at the physical level of the exercise without going into the undesired spiritual realm

The Word of God says

‘what you think you master will master you’
‘what masters you, you will be a slave to’

- many believe that while heaven seems too remote, to look heavenly on earth will bring great personal pride, joy and peace

The Word of God says
‘The Lord doesn’t look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outwards appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart’
1 Samuel 16:7

‘..and the dust returns to the ground it came from and the spirit returns to God who gave it.’
Meaningless, meaningless…..’
Ecclesiastes 12:7
