#25 The word is mightier than the sword(29jan2005)

By the Word of the Lord were the Heavens made and all
the host of them by the breath of His mouth....'
Psalm 33:6

'For He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it
stood fast.'
Psalm 33:9

"God spoke to me through His Words."
"His Words reveal the inner thoughts and secrets of my
heart."

'And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest;
and so falling down on his face he will worship
God...'
1 Corinthians 14:25

These are common enough testimonies and expressions of
joy of a passionate believer, old or new.

Yet, to many disbelievers, these pronouncements seem
more like a late stage manifestation of a mind gone
warp or at best, a delusory mind making a futile
attempt to smoulder the pains of life with
self-assurances.

The self is indeed deceitful!!

Yet, unlike men, God is the same today, tomorrow and
till eternity.

In His love and faithfulness, God gave us His Word.

'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God'
John 1:1

If the Word of God is just a mere book of knowledge or a reference book,
written by the limited understandings of mere mortals,
it will be subjected to disputes of legality and men's interpretation and lies by false prophets who claim mastery of it.

The Word of God is written by anointed men, BUT guided
by God. God is the scribe.God is the Word.
He is a living God. His Word is living.

The same verse will speak to us in different ways and
at different situations of our life.

It is for us to respond in faith as God speaks to us
as we spend time with Him.

'For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and
sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints
and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and
itents of the heart'
Hebrews 4:12

The Word of God is meant to guide, lead, correct and
teach us

To know God, to fulfill God's will for us, to live a
life of peace and joy in this sinful but temporal
world ruled by the devil, we must want to seek and
obey God with all our heart, soul and mind and
acknowledge Him in every way

'It is written man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that poureth out of the mouth of God'
Mathew 4:4

For in spending time in the Word of God, we spend time
with God, we will be blessed

'.....thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling
should not be cut off,'
Zephaniah 3:7

'Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life...'
Psalm 23:6

Enough meandering words from me, the lowly man.
Suffice to say, it is not about knowledge, eloquence
or familiarity with the Word of God.

It is about how in our highs, or lows or somewhere in
between nirvana and hades, spending time in the Word
of God, is spending time with God and experiencing His
healing grace and love, as He speaks to our heart.

How wonderful
-it is when God speaks to us,
-when a verse jumps out at the unfaithul us and gives
us that clarity and enlightenment that we never had
despite that verse almost being second nature to us
- when a paragraph or a sentence or even just a mere
word read, seems to bring to completion a beautiful
tapestry that God has been weaving in our lives, which
until then was in our limited human understanding, a
mish mash of troubles.

The Word of God says

'Blessed are all those who wait for Him'
Isaiah 30:18

Waiting in the context of God's will is

- spending time on His Word

- in communion and prayers with God

- in living a life of humility and love with no
expectations other than the promise of God.

'For blesseth is the man that heareth Me, watching
daily at My gates, waiting at the post of my doors'
Proverbs 8:34

God Blesses
