God.!! You must be crazy.
(4Jul2004)
It is God who chose us and not we who chose Him
‘No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day’
John 6:44
Some of us who kids in the late 1970s might recall the film : ‘The gods must be crazy’
Its about this Kenyan tribesman who embarked on a journey to look for the ‘god’ who hit him with a Coca Cola bottle from the sky.
Did God hit you and woke you up??
‘At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures………,
But when the kindness of God Our Saviour appeared, He saved us……..
He saved us through the working of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ Our Saviour.’
Titus 3:3-7
You woke up and God wants you to respond
‘…..in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship’
Romans 12:1
In your responding, God will enlighten
‘Don’t conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is’
Romans 12:2
In living in the light, you will be a light to others
‘…in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world’
Philippians 2:15
‘…..to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of God’
Ephesians 4:12-13
How do we respond???
- by drinking in the Word of the Lord
‘He who eats My flesh and drink My blood abide in Me and I in him’
John 6:55
‘And they shall all be taught by God……’
John 6:45
- by the way we lived
‘As a prisoner of the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received’
Ephesians 4:1
- by obedience to God’s will
‘If you love me, you will obey what I command’
John 14:15
‘I desire to do your will, O My God. Your law is written in my heart’
Psalm 40:8
- by sharing the good news of the gospel
‘I do not seal my lips as you know, O Lord’
Psalm 40:9
- by attesting to God’s faithfulness in your lives
‘I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart.
I speak of your faithfulness and salvation
I have not concealed thy loving kindness and truth from the congregation’
Psalm 40:10
Yet, in your responding, God responses
‘But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you’
John 14:15-18
‘For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you’
Luke 17:21
God’s reassurance
‘the one who was born of God keeps him safe and the evil one cannot harm him’
1 John 5:18-19
‘This is love for God : to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for whatever borne of God overcomes the world’
1 John 5:1-4
‘Who is it that overcomes the world. Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God’
1 John 5:5
In ignoring God, we are ‘safe’ not because God is powerless, but because God so loved the world that He gives us not only His beloved Son, Jesus Christ but also time for us to repent and respond.
‘For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace. And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest. Until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth and the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness’
Isaiah 62:1-2
Use the time well before it is too late
‘the days will come when you desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it’
Luke 17:22
Remember Noah’s Ark
‘They ate, they drank, they married wives, ……until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them’
Luke 17:27
So, who is the ‘crazy’one???
You who ignore God :
‘He who is not with ME is against Me, and he who doesn’t gather with Me scatters’
Luke 11:23
OR
One who fear and obey God without doubting
‘Assuredly I say to you whoever doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it’
Mark 10:15
‘For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life’
John 3:16
